So, I have only been to Canada once, when traveling there for work. I stayed at a gorgeous lodge in the middle of winter and was able to drive across the border, past Niagara Falls, to get there. This was before you needed a passport to cross the Northern border and during a time when business travel was the normal thing for me to be doing throughout the entire year.
Luckily for me, I don’t need to travel as often for my job, but I still do head North to visit family in Minnesota, which is pretty far North and pretty similar climate and temperatures to our friends across the border.
Winter and holiday cocktails go hand in hand for our family, so I love to discover new recipes to create and premium bottles to bring home to sample with loved ones.
This holiday cocktail recipe includes many winter flavors, including maple syrup. For those who enjoy eggnog during winter celebrations, this version is bound to be their new favorite.
- 1 oz. Ungava Gin
- ½ oz. Amaro Montenegro
- ½ oz. Maple Syrup
- ½ oz. Lemon Juice
- 5 dashes of chocolate bitters
- 1 egg
- Cinnamon stick and nutmeg
- Load a shaker with egg and dry shake.
- Add ice and liquid ingredients and shake again.
- Strain into a glass and garnish with nutmeg and cinnamon stick.
