San Diego’s Farmer & The Seahorse is a hidden gem, and is the latest and greatest foodie experience by Brian Malarkey which you need to check out. You wouldn’t even just happen to drive past this spot, unless you are a member at the Torrey Pines Golf Course. Of course, I drove by the banner with the name and logo on it for months wondering what it was all about, but not until I was invited in to try their brunch menu did I realize what I had been missing out on all that time.
When you first pull into the parking lot, you’ll notice the beautiful outdoor space which leads to the front entrance and outdoor dining area. The lush green grass and beautiful trees are inviting, and keeps the parking lot far enough away that you will forget the outside world even exists.
The dark green plush booth seating, along with the wood decor will make you feel right at home inside. Whether you choose to sit at the bar or in the outdoor seating area near the play space perfect for those dining with kids, you’ll enjoy the atmosphere just as much as the food.
Brunch is served on Sundays from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm and I think it’s safe to say you’ll want to spend those entire four hours relaxing with the sunshine and live music as your backdrop.
The menu items were hard to choose from, but my son devoured the kid’s waffle (with fresh berries and whip cream topping), sipped on his cashew butter and banana smoothie as I enjoyed my Spicy Grapefruit Margarita which went perfectly with the Crab Cake Benedict that was even more amazing than it looks.
The open patio makes it easy to go back and forth between the gorgeous outdoor space and the indoor dining room, making this one of the most family-friendly venues I’ve experienced in a while.
Brian Malarkey was there with his daughter who is the same age as my youngest, so I know he gets it. Family-friendly dining spots with amazing food and a comfortable space are hard to find in North County San Diego. That is, until now!
Farmer & The Seahorse is open for breakfast and lunch from 7:00 am – 3:00 pm Monday through Friday which makes it an ideal spot for a work meeting or special occasion lunch date. Happy Hour is from 4:00 – 7:00 pm Wednesday through Friday. You’ll probably find my family there after school on Fridays as a great way to kick off the weekend.
San Diego’s Farmer & The Seahorse is a hidden gem I’m so glad I was invited to try out. I’ll see you there!
